Broken C5/6 Fusion

I am scheduled for a c4-c7 Corpectomy in 2 weeks. I broke C5/6 in 1988 and had them fused at that time. I started getting neck, shoulder, elbow, and hand pain 6 months ago. After x-rays. MRI. CT, and bone scan it was determined that my fusion broke and the disc below ruptured.

I read many threads on this forum of failed surgeries and now I am worried about the surgery.

I am am trying to decide if I should live with the risks and pain I have now, instead of risking something worse. Has anyone had a failed fusion that they had fixed successfully? What method did your doctor use?
