surgery aug 18th!

Hi i am having a lumbar fusion on aug 18th.l have read many topics on this forum,I'm looking to hear about the recovery time and pain after.I'm 43 i have parkinsons disease with other health issues. LLooking forward to hearing more of your advice.

  • Also looking for info on wearing the back brace after surgery.
  • This is a question for the surgeon. When I had my first fusion over six years ago, my surgeon said I don't need one. This time (surgery on Aug. 14) the same guy told me that he wants me to wear one for the first three month, to protect my back. Go figure!

  • I had ALIF on L4-L5-S1 on May 20,2014....10 weeks ago. My surgeon didn't mention anything about wearing a back brace but the physician assistant told me to wear one to help flatten the stomach and possibly help reduce risk of getting heniate. I wear it all the time, it also helps remind me not to bend my back. Best of luck on your upcoming surgery.
