Scar tissue

I had a laminectomy discectomy at L5 S1 last December.I am still experiencing a great deal of pain and discomfort. The Dr ordered a new MRI and found that I have a ball of scar tissue pushing another small herniation into the nerves. He says that the scar tissue will flatten out eventually. Has anyone else heard of this??? I have not been able to find that explanation anywhere else. I am worried he will want to release me back to work but I have sharp pains every time I sit up for more than a few minutes. I do not know what I am going to do? Should I go back to what I did before work in pain and cry every night when I get home. Spend every night laying down not being able to do anything.
