My names is Carole. What does it mean when a topic is locked? It was a new post with no replies...I sent a private message to the poster...no reply button.
Thanks in advance!

A thread gets locked if it is a duplicate post, then there will be a link to the original. This is the reason why it is a violation to duplicate threads as it causes confusion to the forum.
If it is the one I think it is, then I left the body of the text as there was a slight variation and I wanted members to be able to read both.

It is against forum rules to duplicate posts..the reason for this is having multiple threads on the same subject can reduce the number of responses, plus it creates confusion for the rest of the member community. Members do not know which thread to respond to. Then in the end you may have a number of different responses in different threads. Any thread continuity is then lost.

Another reason for a thread to be locked is if it has gone off topic.
