Sciatica or Plantar Faciitis

I've had Disk Degeneration Disease/facet joint arthritis for the past 10 years. I was offered an operation to insert a titanium rod and vertebrae but decided against it as the odds weren't brilliant. I have had facet joint injections and epidural injections ever since. I decided that my last epidural in May 2013 would be my last as I put on a few pounds which took a long time to lose.

I swim once a week and walk the dog twice daily and I keep my weight down. For the past 4 months of so I have had a searing pain in my left heel. The pain is constant. I've been in a degree of pain for the past 12 years so I've just got on with it. I have seen my doctor who diagnosed Plantar Faciitis and was referred to podiatry. However, the day before I saw the podiatrist I twisted my back swimming, thanks to my daughter, which led to the pain in my heel going to be replaced by local pain in L4/L5/S1 area. No foot pain! Over the next couple of days the back eased and the foot pain came back. This has happened on and off ever since but still. 95% foot pain. The pain is in my heel. No radiated pain down buttocks and leg. I haven't had an MRI since 2007. Is it worth getting another one to see if a disk is floating/bulging or is this plantar? Thoughts would be welcome as nothing helps this pain and it is driving me mad. Anyone else had this? Thanks guys.
