On june 11th i totaled my truck and had a type 3 fracture of my C-2. It was an extremely traumatic incident with massive force involved. my heart stopped for a little under 10 seconds. I was relased from the hospital after two days in a Miami J collar and on my follow up appointment two weeks later discovered that my fracture proved to be unstable and shifted out of position prompting a posterior C-1 C-2 fusion using 2 screws subliminar wiring and a bone graft from my rib.The surgery occured on July 1st and i have my first X rays on the 19th of this month. My pain is pretty much nonexistent at this point i dont take any meds but i feel very weak in the neck. Ive been doing as much as i can such as walking and light duty menial tasks.I am wondering how succesfull these surgeries are for people who have expereinced them. I have been instructed to wear my collar 24/7 for 3 months(which i follow strictly) Apparently being young is on my side in this fight but to be quite frank i am scared shitless. I was a painting and construction contractor by trade and non professional car mechanic in life before the wreck (just finished the build on my truck when i wrecked it). I lived a heavily active lifestyle and im really worried as to if i will be able to return to my previous state of strength and dexterity. Anybody have expereinces thoughts or opinions to share? Sorry to ramble on. apparently this is a rare surgery and i cant find much info on post op success stories and whatnot. Praying every day i will be able to return to my work projects and physical activities at some point in my life. Although eternally grateful to still be alive and ambulant.

Thanks cheers
