I have a large disc bulge for 6 months now. Pain is much lower than it was (I would rate 2 out of 10). I have some days with no pain at all. I do get pain only on my left upper leg. Rarely (once a week) I get little numbness on my legs (sometimes on left and sometimes on right side). But I never had pain on my right leg.
6 Months ago I got an MRI and it showed a very large para central disc bulge at L5/S1 and four months ago I got another MRI and it showed exactly the same thing. But my pain is quite low at the moment and rarely numbness only on toes. No weaknesses at all. I didn't get any MRI last 3 months.
I am doing Physio, Hydrothorophy, accupuncture and everything. I want to try my conservative treatments and keep the surgery as the absolute last resort. But my doctor and surgeon indirectly pushing me towards a surgery as it is already 6 months.
Below are my questions.
1. If I have no pain and little numbness time to time, can it be dangerous to keep trying conservative treatments? I do very careful when I am doing everything and not doing anything that can aggravate it.
2. Have you heard about any disc bulges healed after 6 months? Can it heal in 1 or 2 years?
3. Is pain and numbness are an indication of nerve damange/compression?
Thank you very much!
