Does anyone else find that doing the sciatica stretches makes it worse? I have a bulging disc at L4/L5 and L5/S1. I aggravated it while exercising. Since then I've been given exercises to help stretch, but it just makes the tingling worse. I didn't know if this was normal or not. I've stopped doing them. I have an appointment with a spine doctor tomorrow, so I'll see what she says about it.

  • I am not a doctor, but I have had sciatic nerve pain from a bone spur at L5S1. I think that the nerve can get rubbed raw from being pinched, and it can wear the outer layer off of the nerve, and movement can cause it to be rubbed across other structure and that can cause irritation of the nerve, and pain.
C5-C6 and L5-S1 degenerative discs and bone spurs at age 47. (bummer).
