Two Spinal ops with a third a real possibility

Evening. First post here.
I had a microdiscectomy in Oct 07 at S1/L5 followed by a laminectomy and another microdiscectomy at L4/L5 in Aug 12. My recovery from my first op was excellent and apart from playing football I returned to most sports and fitness stuff after approx 10 months. In Jan 12 I injured my back again whilst training which resulted in Cauda Equina and an emergency op. This op was successful in the most part and my bladder works went back to normal. However, my back pain and leg pain persisted. I've had a further MRI and recived the results today. All neuro stuff is normal but I have significant mechanical issues in my lower 2/3 vertebrae. My neurosurgeon is recommending I speak to a orthopaedic surgeon to explore bi level fusion. My pain on a daily basis is pretty bad. Lower back feels very 'broken' and sore and I get no let up whether lying, sitting or standing. Would fusion surgery be a good option as at the moment I can't go on in this pain. I currently take 8 50mg tramadol a day plus 70mg of Amitriptyline combined with ibuprofen and paracetamol. Any advice would be great. Thanks.
