Hi ,a car turned in front of my bike and my head hit the bodywork at 40mph , I had numb fingers at first , which gradually became stinging/ burning. Ive had gabapentin , nortryptilene , lidocaine patches , cream, acupuncture, carbamazepan ,spinal stimulation via spinal cavity ,and the doctor has run out of ideas .
A surgeon diagnosed that a nerve had been squashed , one that picks up minute touches such as wind on it or any light brushing ,whilst hard squeezing does not bother it .The gabapentin takes the edge off the pain but it still often feels like ive had a blowtorch on it . It's the index and second finger of my right hand .
I'd like to know if theres any other treatment to try please , Would any physio' help ?, bearing in mind that the nerve appears to be permanently damaged.
Any advice appreciated , and thanks for the site .
Cheers , Wag
