Recently, I injured my back while helping my 14yo 98lb dog up. Immediately, I felt the pain, and 2 days later the unbearable sciatica pain arrived. Based on the location of the pain (center of leg radiating downward, pain in my butt cheek) I knew I did something to my L3-L4. I went to the ER, they did a CT scan and there is a protrusion at that level. A month later, pain was still unbearable, so I visited my neurologist who gave me epidural shots and ordered am MRI. 2 days later, the epi kicked in the sciatica was nearly all gone. Still have back ache, especially when I wake up. I take one oxycodone 10-325 (since my 10-650 were discontinued) Thank goodness I'm just achy now.. Taking robaxin in the PM and flexeril in the AM, but quite honestly, I feel no different with these muscle relaxers.
MRI results confirm the protrusion at that level, but also showed bulging discs at level L2-L5-S1. Yuck. Based on my limited knowledge, a bulging disc is the step before a herniated disc. Am I correct?
Anyway, I'm just wondering if all these bulges are bad news? I see my neuro on Tuesday and was just looking for some feedback from others who may have as many bulges as I have.,
