It's just coming up to a year since my fusion surgery to fix my shcuermann's disease kyphosis/scoliosis.
Unfortunately last week while out jogging, my left rod snapped in my thoracic region, just below one of the joints.
My surgeon said he won't touch it, and will review me in 6 months. At the time I was fine with this as I was in no pain, but recently my pain has gotten worse so I'm having to go back to adopting the behaviours I had following my surgery like not bending or lifting things.
He told me its a race of time between fusion finishing and the hardware failing, so does this mean my fusion hasn't taken place? He said if he opened me up there would just be bone there but surely if that was the case it wouldn't have snapped?
Has anyone has something similar happen? I hate not knowing whats going to happen now, I was pain free before this rod snapped and now it feels everything is spasming in my back and I'm back at square one.
