Hello, I am a 37 year old female single mom of 3. I work full time as a nurse. I started having lower back pain this past winter but my doctors just said it was muscular issues and sent me on my way. Well starting at the end of the spring I noticed my left leg was getting numb as well as the toes on the left side. The numbness turned into horrible pain and I was referred to the pain center for a MRI. This is what I got as my results:
L5-S1: There is a disc bulge with a large superimposed left paracentral and
foraminal disc extrusion causing moderate central canal and severe left neural
foraminal narrowing. Disc material contacts, but does not displace the exiting
L5 nerve root. The traversing S1 nerve root is not impinged upon by disc
material. Mild right neural foraminal narrowing
I have since received 2 transforanimal injections within 4 days of each other. The first one made the pain worse. My doctor referred me to the surgeon at the spine center. I have no idea what's going on. I go to a hospital where it is impossible to get any feedback and no one ever sat down with me to discuss my MRI. I know its a 2 way street on that but I am so frustrated that I found this forum. Any feedback would be great.
I am currently just taking Advil and Tylenol, as well as Neurontin for the pain.
No previous back issues and I do not know how this happened.
