Introducing myself and my screwed up spine

Hello All,
My name is Bob. I had l2 to l4 stabilization and fusion last June 2013. Currently on 30 mg oxycodone a day. 3 10mg doses. Plus a bunch of meds for PTSD from the VA here is SLC.
I still have significant pain and a large numb spot on my left outer thigh. My back is constantly sore.
I am faced with losing my family (cats) and my apt as Metlife denied long term disability. SSD denied disability also. I'm 58, lost my job though I think I am still on the medical leave list. No income other then the partial payment I got in May.

So I figured I would say hello and maybe ask for some prayers for a disabled veteran. Things are so bad here that I have no other option but to find some sort of work that would allow movement. I am limited to about 30 minutes sitting before lower back starts to scream. I am rambling because I am so depressed that living is getting hard to face every day.

  • I'm sorry for the struggles you are having currently. Have you checked into having a lawyer assist you with your SSD application and paperwork? Most of the time, SSD denials have to do with incomplete information, or something in the reports from the doctor that fails to state that you are completely unable to work.
There are other options, SSI, which is not the same as SSD, may be able to assist you. As well, check the county you live in, for social services- housing, food stamps, and other assistance, including medical coverage. Veterans groups has tons of resources to assist vets with PTSD, and other injuries related to their service to our country.
