SSEP- would like to hear about anyone's experiences

My mother has been suffering with similar issues as I have been with pain in the neck, shoulders and arms. She also has spinal cord compression in her neck in 2 areas. She hasn't gotten quite as bad but is seeking help to get rid of the issue. She had an EMG on Monday and said it definitely wasn't the most comfortable experience. I am looking up the SSEP procedure and I am not having much luck. I know now what it measures but I am just wondering what the procedure is like. Is it painful? Does it involve a bunch of needles? How did you feel afterwards? Anything you can tell me would be great. thanks
