Broad-Based extrusion 2-3mm C-5 C-6

Help I have been in neck pain for several weeks although my problems began last November, a recent emergency room visit and a CT Scan found nothing, an MRI found mild disc bulging on 6 of the 7, bone spurs, and a broad-based posterior extrusion 2-3mm on the C5-C6, with encroachment into the spinal canal. Neurologist just prescribed physical therapy, massage, and a med named Gralise (seizure medication) that supposedly helps with nerve pain and Ibuprofen. I have moderate to severe neck pain most of the day. Part of my job is on computer as well as driving, and both are becoming very difficult. Writing and reading is difficult. I have some shoulder pain but non on my hands, arms, legs or back. Is physical therapy going to help me? Will I need surgery?
