I've been in pain for the last 3 years. I finally got the time to do an MRI today and got the following results:
MRI SCREENING OF WHOLE SPINE
FAST SPIN-ECHO T2 W SAGITTAL IMAGES OF WHOLE SPINE WERE OBTAINED ON DEDICATED QUADRATURE BODY COIL.
There is mild straightening of cervical spine with normal vertebral alignment . Dorsal kyphosis & lumbar lordosis is preserved.
Vertebral bodies are normal in height and reveal normal marrow signal intensity. The cervical and lumbar vertebral bodies reveals tiny osteophytes.
Intervertebral discs at C4-C5, C5-C6 and L4-L5 levels reveals variable loss of normal hyper signal intensity on T2W images suggesting partial to complete disc dessication.
Small posterior-osteophyte disc complex is noted at C5-C6 level causing mild indentation over the anterior thecal sac. No significant cord compression / signal changes noted.
At L4-L5 level, there is evidence of posterocentral disc herniation causing mild thecal sac compression and partial effacement of bilateral lateral recesses and neural foramina at this level.
Rest of the intervertebral disc reveals preserved posterior disc contour.
Spinal cord is normal with no evidence of focal or diffuse signal abnormality.Conus ends at D12-L1 level.
Bony spinal canal at vertebral bodies level is normal in dimensions with no evidence of cord compression.
Pre-vertebral and para-vertebral soft tissues are normal.
OPINION: MRI Screening of Whole spine finding reveals -
1. Cervical spondylosis with small posterior osteophyte-disc complex at C5-C6 level causing mild indentation over the anterior thecal sac. No significant cord compression / signal changes noted.
2. Disc dessication and posterocentral disc herniation at L4-L5 level causing mild thecal sac compression and partial effacement of bilateral lateral recesses and neural foramina at this level.
I'm not sure what I should do next. I do not want to do surgery. What does it mean and how can I lead a normal life?
All drained out of energy
