Upper back pain

I'm a 17 year old girl & I have been experiencing back pain since I was about 15. I had X rays done, & I was told that there was nothing wrong with me. But I knew there had to be because I can feel the pain. My chiropractor told me that I had a rib head out of place, but wouldn't that show up on my X rays? My aunt, who use to be a nurse told me that chiropractors sometimes make assumptions & aren't always correct. When I take deep breathes in, my upper back on the right side occasionally pops, & when I breathe out, I feel like a dull, throbbing pain. Sometimes this pain doesn't let me sleep. I have my sister, who weighs about 70 pounds, step on my back every once in a while because I feel like my back needs to be pushed down to somehow "fix" it. It feels good while she's stepping on it, but once she steps off, the pain comes back. Does anyone know what is wrong with my back?
