Worse pain at 4 months, after almost pain free

Hi Everyone,

I am new here. I am very frustrated with my recovery. At 3 months I was almost pain free, doing great with the walks and physical therapy exercises. My NS was pleased with the pins, but never said anything about whether bone was starting to grow and fuse. So I asked, but what about the fusion? Is the bone starting to grow yet? He said no, but that's pretty normal. I had double fusion in my cervical and it started growing at 1 month and by month 3, was well on its way to completely fusing all from all sides and ends.

So now, in the last few days I have increased and severe pain in my spine in the surgical area! What the heck? I can barely move and everything brings it pain, sitting, standing, walking, and lying down! I sleep propped up with pillows to cushion and then under my knees. I can't sleep on either side, my arms fall asleep and I wake up in more lower back pain. I am back on pain meds from my primary care doctor and she agreed to get a second opinion on my back recovery from a better and highly sought after NS. I don't feel like I can trust my NS, I got the feeling he was just telling me what I wanted to hear. I have pretty good intuition of people and the day of my surgery I was having doubts of going through with the surgery with this surgeon, but I was desperate and in pain so I pushed the feeling aside. I also ended up with infection on one incision, but it cleared up with antibiotics.

Any thoughts on this? I am feeling like my fusion surgery failed and my sciatic nerve pain is back on the left side as well, almost as bad as before (which is the original side).
