Aspirin and Cervical fusion

I had a cervical fusion of 5-6 6-7 one month ago. I have not taken aspirin till now but need to because I have heart disease and have had bypass surgery and stents. I am worried my fusion will not fuse but I am between a rock and a hard place for sure and have no choice. I don't want to get a clot or have a heart attack. Has anyone else taken aspirin after their fusion and did ok ? I have to take one 325 mg Aspirin once a day. Just needing some reassurance after going thru all this pain :( thank you for any input

We can not advise you on taking aspirin or not. If I were you, I would contact both your surgeon and your cardiologist for their advice.

  • Hi Abbey,
I was wondering the same thing since I was prescribed Fiorinal (contains aspirin) for bad headaches. My regular neuro suggested I try it as my other migraine medication seemed to be making me nauseated post ACDF. Of course, I forgot to ask him if aspirin was okay to take. I take Fiorinal once or twice a week. I hope I'm not slowing the fusion process but I figured he wouldn't have prescribed it if it could hurt. I could be wrong. I will definitely be asking my NS about it in 3 weeks when I see him next. You're in a situation where you have to take aspirin daily, so maybe call your surgeon's office to see what they say. I hope you're feeling better.
