here I go again

Hi I've been a member for about 6 yrs read a lot on here but rarely post. I'm due to have Alif l4/l5 on 15th Nov, it can't come soon enough. I'm in agony today just need a bit of support please. Stupidly thought I could put some washing in machine and whammy back gone into spasm shaking like a leaf, legs are shaking and twitching. Just trying to walk it off. Any ideas to help would be very grateful. Thank you

  • I'm sorry that you are having back spasms. You can try some ice, heat/heating pad, 15 minutes on , then off for at least a half hour.......a warm bath may also help to ease the muscle tension.
  • Try adding loads of Epsom salts to a really hot bath. That & airomatherapy blend massage oils help me. Mostly I try to hobble it off like you! Sorry.

  • You're probably nervous and your body is in overdrive. I was also miserable as could be the last couple days befor surgery. I hope you can relax those muscles and feel better soon

  • My heart goes out to you.
I filled my days with constant tv. Shows I love. I would lie down with a pillow between my knees on my side or back. But there were some very dark weeks where I writhed around and moaned. I've had 2 kids and would gladly birth another over this. I know how this feels.
If I had to do surgery again I'd ask for something for relaxation and a bit numbing. I ended up eventually getting what i needed but oh how I suffered!
Get yourself ready for post op in your house and good luck! Counting down and hoping the time goes pain free and quick!
  • Muscle relaxers and volteral gel and walking only thing that helps me with these muscle spasms heat nor ice alone ease the muscles to relax enough
  • Doc gave me some diazepam I'm over the worst of it, on count down to my op now x
  • Best of luck. Find something, anything to obsess on. Study something you've always wanted to know about on YouTube & the net AND find some series you always wanted to watch on TV but never got around to. Is it too soon to write your Christmas cards & do some Internet shopping? Are you into any little crafty things you can do reclining or laying down in your best comfort position? Be really, really busy...NO laundry or JUST cleaning that out before surgery!!! Best wishes.
