I hade a stimulator put in November 4 specifically for face pain. I had a medullary stroke in 2011 that really messed things up. Too lengthy to go into right now, but it left me with an atypical form of TN pain in the face. Medications did not work. After trying 4-5 pain medications, they all left me in a state that I couldn't function. The stimulator was implanted in the neck/head area. The Dr. had to chip some of the bone away making it the most painful surgery I have had. Plus they had to screw in a halo device to stabilize my head during surgery. To date, November 12, I can say I have had some relief. How much I am not sure. I still have residual pain from the surgery. If all goes well, I will have a permanent stimulator put in November 21. There hasn't been a lot of medical research in this specific area from what I have been told. I am the 5th patient at this highly respected research hospital in Sothern California to have this done. If anyone is looking for relief in this specific area, I would say to look into it. I will post again should I have the implant.
