Test results on MRI

Hi All,
My Mri showed Mild disc bulge on L2-3 and mild degeneration on facet joint
on L3-4 Broad based disc bulge mild facet degeneration and mild central canal stenosis also mild inferior narrowing but both L3 nerve roots are normal
L4-5 mild bulge and degeneration facet
L5-SI mild to moderate degeneration change.

When I read the report it makes think I should not be in all the pain am. I had my nerve study which showed L5 nerve root is inflamed and same nerve damage only one grade from normal .Same as the study done 2 years ago.

I feel like the above shouldn't make me hurt the way I do. Recently I have had to stop working because of the nerve pain bilaterally and the low back pain that will not let up. I have had PT and I have been doing an elliptical for the last 5 months.
It makes me close to tears to do 30 minutes on a low setting. But I know I have to keep moving and trying to get heart rate up for cardio.

Am I nuts? 2 years ago my MRI only showed the arthritis and disc at L3-4 bulge. I am seeing a spine & pain Doctor that is awesome and have had 4 epidurals this year, 3 in the beginning of 2013 and a booster this past Sept.that helped with a lot of the rt leg nerve pain. I have had a couple of trigger point injections in low back and a couple of toradol injections. however my pain levels have stayed at no lower than 5 on low back but days at least 6 and by night 6+, When I stand for no more than 20 minutes I am hurting bad and if I try to walk for more than 30 minutes it gets worse. Sitting has recently started to hurt and the exhaustion makes me feel awful. Laying down helps more than anything , if I keep changing positions. I have osteoarthritis in both knees rt worse and in most of my finger joints. Had a cortisone injection in rt knee.

It is a forum violation to ask for any analysis, input, reviews, of any diagnostic test

  • I know! I really do. I have osteoarthritis, have had most of my life. My spine degeneration explains that pain but my knees only have a little arthritis nothing to explain how they feel when they flare. I can see the changes in my fingers. It's scary. Somedays my rings are loose & other days I couldn't squeeze them past my joints for anything! It still amazes me how much pain those tiny little joints can inflict on me. I know they describe arthritis as normal wear & tear but for some of us it's so much worse.
Have you ever tried an arthritis antiinflamatory diet? My mum swears by it. I'm sure it helps me a little. If I'm naughty for a few days I can feel it in all of my joints & see it in my fingers! I'm into really hot Epsom salt baths at the moment. It's just turned really cold in Texas & the weather really effects my joints. I sound like an old lady "I can feel it in my bones!" hahaha.
It sounds like you've got some good specialists in your corner. That's half the battle! Do you take Celebrex? I've heard great things but my insurance company won't budge & let me try it! Ugh!! Did the cortisone injection help? I've had a couple with mixed results.
    Osteoarthritis & DDD.
