I'm a first time poster but I am looking for any feedback! I have been undergoing treatment for herniated discs in L4/L/5. I have had every test known to man! (Catscan, MRI, Bonescan, X-rays) I have had two epidural injections at the base of my spine and have really gotten no releif. Somedays it's hard to even get out of bed. Tomorrow I am scheduled for a total of 6 injections going into the "side" of each disc space. I can't seem to find any feedback on someone who has had multiple injections at one time and truthfully I'm a nervous reck! The last single epidural injection was so painful after to local wore off it literally madee cry. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thank you I'm advance :)

It would be very helpful if you could provide us with more details. Here are some questions that you
should answer:

  • - When did this first start?
    - Was it the result of an accident or trauma?
    - What doctors have you seen?
    - What Conservative treatments have you had? Which ones?
    - What diagnostic tests have you had? And their results
    - What medications are you currently using?
    - Has surgery been discussed as an option?
    - What is your doctor’s action plan for treating you?
Providing answers to questions like this will give the member community here a better understanding
of your situation and make it easier to respond

You did provide a lot of information regarding your diagnostic tests, but please see if you can fill is in on the rest

  • Ice, ice & more ice! I take one of those ice blocks (I have for my kids lunch boxes) with me & start icing on the way home! Then I ice more when I get home & for a couple of days after that. I leave it on for 15-20 minutes at a time & do it every hour or so until I don't feel like I don't need it anymore.
For me it's a weird thing. Sometimes it hurts a lot for a week after & sometimes not so much. Sometimes I get relief, sometimes I don't. I have no idea why. I'm sorry. You're in good company. Many of us know what you're going through. It sucks doesn't it?

  • I am a first time blogger as well. I can tell you I have had multiple injections in my lower back on 3 different occasions. I was put under general anesthisia all three times and felt no pain at all upon wakening and my pain was gone even if only for a short time, aprox 1-2 months. You might want to try general vs local antesthesia.
