Hi Everyone, I'm new here, looking for input/help.
Here's my short story:
On September 29, 2014, my husband and I were in a car accident. Hubby was driving and I was passenger. It was a 3 car accident and we were the last car to get rear ended. First car got totaled, no injuries, 2nd was a F250 Diesel, little damage to rear bumper, with no injuries and my car, Subaru Outback. My car didn't sustain to much damage, new rear bumper, that's it. I got hauled off in an ambulance, husband met me at the hospital. They did a X-ray, saw nothing, got released but pulled from work till I saw my PCP. I saw my PCP, still no work. I had a prescheduled MRI for lower DDD. We got the results, but included was results for my neck. PCP sent me in to see a surgeon. My result said annular tear.

Saw my surgeon, he said he couldn't read my results well, needed a new MRI that was only for my neck. Turns out is was more then a tear. A bulging disc and a herniated disc, this answered lots of questions. I saw my surgeon this last week for a follow-up, he is thinking I might need surgery. I go back in in 2 weeks, if there is no change, we do surgery. Replacing the disc with artificial discs. He doesn't want to fuse me, he wants to put in Mobi-C Disc. Now, here's the question, who knows anything of this artificial disc? What do I need to know? What to expect? All the questions that runs through ones mind. Please and Thank you in advance!

It would be very helpful if you could provide us with more details. Here are some questions that you
should answer:

  • - When did this first start?
    - Was it the result of an accident or trauma?
    - What doctors have you seen?
    - What Conservative treatments have you had? Which ones?
    - What diagnostic tests have you had? And their results
    - What medications are you currently using?
    - Has surgery been discussed as an option?
    - What is your doctor’s action plan for treating you?

Providing answers to questions like this will give the member community here a better understanding
of your situation and make it easier to respond.

  • Hi. I'm really sorry. Life can change so fast.

When it comes to surgery I'd always get at least 1 second opinion. It's a huge step & you need to be sure that you're making the best choices for you.

Sorry I don't know anything about those discs. I'm sure someone will. Please see another surgeon though. Better to be safe & over informed than sorry.
