Hi , I really need someone's opinion on what I should do I'm only 20 years old and my back pain has gotten to the point where I break down in tears cause the pain has gotten so bad. Recently its just been getting worse I cant even lay in bed without my legs going numb on me and getting a horrible sharp pain . But I am 22 weeks pregnant right now and just the other night I could barely move I had got in bed and had to get up to fill my sons cup and I couldn't even stand I had to yell for my grandparents to help me cause I felt like I was going to fall. My family keep's telling me its the sciatica nerve but sense I m pregnant could they do much ? I really cant take no medicine or anything what should I do and I cant stay like this cause I have a 2 year old and I need to work but I cant do much with my back like this. I really just push my self to do things

  • I went through pregnancy with my disc sitting on my nerve root, it's no fun! I found a fantastic specialist massage therapist. She was a life saver. Talk to your OBGYN about this. Many women who have never previously had any back problems develop issues when they're pregnant. You won't be the first woman to need medical help with this. Please listen to their advise & take restrictions VERY seriously. Chronic pain isn't good for you or your baby. I went though this. My son was the same age when I was expecting his sister & it was really hard. She was born full term & perfectly healthy ;-)

Ask your OBGYN about aromatherapy massage oils, specialist massage, specialist physical therapy/yoga instructors...they can help loosen the muscles which cause additional pain. They can teach you comfortable stretches with heat to reduce your pain. No specialist should hurt you in any way. They should ask to see any diagnostic tests you've had done in the past. Your doc will know which meds you can take to reduce your pain if your vital signs start to increase due to pain. Please don't be tempted by any 'natural' products. Clear everything with your docs before you use it.

I'm pleased you have your Grandparents to help. Please rely on them. Anything you can do to reduce your physical & mental stress at the moment is a good thing. Best of luck. You're not alone. It's bloody hard but it's all worth it.
