I need help!

I need help! I was in a motorcycle accident. I severely injured my right shoulder and that's fixed but I have Lumbar spine problems. I will type the impression of the radiologist and could somebody be gracious enough to tell me what it all means? 1. Worsening disc bulge and protrusion at L4-L5 with moderate central stenosis 2. Similar protrusion at at L5-S1 with mass effect on the left descending left S1 nerve and annular tear. 3.New lesion at the L4 vertebral body not see on prior study. It measures 3cm. In the absence of prior malignancy I would suggest followup bone scan to be obtained for further assessment. Now I'm not medically inclined but the MRI's were done only a year apart and that doesn't sound good. None of it. FYI I take Oxycontin 60 mg, Percocet 10/325 and various muscle relaxers and anti-inflamatories. Has anybody been in a similar circumstance and can help explain this so I understand more thoroughly? Thanks in advance!

  • Have you been seen by a board certified spine surgeon? Is that who ordered the test? You've had a lot of medical attention. Which specialists are you seeing at the moment? I have arthritis that's caused spine degeneration & it's frightening how different my MRIs can be. I had 3 in one year once & you wouldn't of thought it was the same persons spine. The thing is... It didn't really change my treatment options! Another year there wasn't much change but I was in sooo much more pain!
What are your docs telling you? Are they recommending more tests? Have they suggested surgery? There's so much more to diagnosing & treating our spines than the MRIs. Have you had any procedures this year to help diagnose & manage your pain?
