Injured Back?

Hi all,

This is my first time posting on this board, but I have a question I hope someone can answer. Last week I had to lift my mom and put her in a car (end stage lung cancer) she is too weak to move on her own. As I was bending over to put her in the car seat, I felt like I may have pulled a muscle or something.

It's been right a week now since I did it and it still hurts. It aches when I'm sitting still and if I take a deep breath it hurts like hell. Now, the complicating factor. I have heart issues. Since this happened with my mom, I get short of air, what feels like palpitations and my pulse rate increases.

Now, I don't know if the palpitations are actual muscle spasms or palpitations. I've transported people before with back pain that did turn out to be a posterior heart attack.

So, my question to everyone - for those people with pulled muscles/disk issue in the thoracic area...what does it feel like? I'm going to make a doctors appointment to be on the safe side, but was curious what others have had in the past?

  • Best thing to do is what you said you are going to do and go to doctor. But as far as what thoracic spine problems can feel like. It is a really tricky area and present with many different symptoms,I have the whole nine. Got problems with both shoulders, all muscles in between ( traps, delts, rhomboids, paravertals)), and eight herniated thoracic discs. Mine started the other way than you stated, went to hospitals with what was thought as heart problems and eventually (after two years) that it was thoracic spine problems. But I had all of the above, when in pain my BP and pulse rate would do crazy stuff ( ended up developing vasovagal synscope and blackouts ). But the heart attack symptoms , shortness of breath and chest tightness are often common symptoms of thoracic problems. But ya also have to consider pulled muscle in shoulder or in and around rib area can present with same symptoms, like said thoracic is a crazy area. But best to get doctors advice especially if your having palpitations as either way it needs looking into. Welcome to the site, good luck and hope you start feeling better.
