Had a C-2 to T-2 fusion with instrumentation Oct 15, 2014. then Dec 5, 2014 had post op CT Scan: from previous post:
New acute fractures of right T1 nd T2 transverse preocesses is written up on the CT Scan. I had surgery (C-2 - T-2) Oct 15th, 2014, seemed to be doing fine, this was my second CT Scan, been having some back pain that was getting worse. I had all the hardware/pedicle screws. These fractures weren't there 6 weeks ago on previous CT Scan. Do fractures heal on their own? It also said I had a persistent C7 posterior fracture also? Should I be worried? Could this be from the pedicle screws. I am in a ASPEN collar. Thanks for any info and help...worried,
NEW: Went to n/surgeon Monday, he said at completion for fusion they xray the fusion and all the hardware and T-1 and T-2 screws weren't aligned correctly so the took out and repositioned the pedicle screw more medially. So they screw into the vertebrae twice at T1 and T2, hence I think it weakened that area and now I have acute fractures (broken bones transverse process know as wings). Dr said there is no surgerical option at all and cementing isn't an option. Elect stimulation might help. It is up to mother nature to hopefully heal. But he said at 66 you don't generate new cells in the bone that well. Basicall nothing can be done. Rehab is put off and must wear the Aspen collar longer and tolerate the spam and extra pain around the broken bones. If the completely break, same thing just have to let them be. I was baffled and kind of shocked. Then tought about it and kind of understand it all..
Anybody ever have a post op surgerical break that healed or used electrical stimulation???
