neck fusion in 09 and now disk bulge on top.

I had a fusion in 09 and now I have a fractured screw that my doctor is not worried about and a bulging disk on the top of the fusion. the fusion is c7 T1 and the disk bulge is c6 c7. my issue is that I think its the plate that is bothering my throat. It feels like a thumb is being pushed in my throat not bad all the time, but gets worse depending on what I do, and as the day progresses. the doctor said that the bulging disk is not bad enough for surgery but didn't give me a plan on what can be done for any of these issues. I also get spasms in my right arm and hand with weakness.

What I wanted to talk to the doctor about but never got the chance, was an option for surgery maybe to remove the old plate and maybe put an artificial disk on top? I made an appointment in the new year but thought I might see if I can get some opinions on any of this.

  • not be. That is something that only your doctor can provide you with. What I would suggest is that you also make an appointment to discuss those questions with a second or even a third surgeon, and get a few opinions, that way, whatever you choose after finding out the options , you can be sure of making the decision based on what the general concensus is.

Thanks, I am in the process right now in getting a 2nd opinion and I am just posting it because I just like to get some opinions, nothing more. its better than talking about it to myself lol. just a little frustrated with my life at a standstill, again and having no answers.
