So upset. Today I went to my neurosurgeon to review an MRI I had last Friday as I'm experiencing bad sciatica pain one year after microdiscectomy. I've had two surgeries on my L5 S1 disc. In 2010 and 2014. We basically talked about what we can do for now until I have another MRI. They did not do it with contrast! Apparently after back surgery scar tissue can be misinterpreted as blown disc material. Anyhow they are going to fight them for another one and I will not pay because of their mistake. They did not ask despite me writing down my surgical information on the intake for.
So for now we are going to try and be conservative. He gave me steroids and a physical therapy script. I will be going back to the same place I went after my last surgery. They are very good and knowledgeable regarding piriformis and si joint issues. Another problem I've had in the past due to leg length discrepancy and being a runner for close to 15 years.
He basically said when it comes to the disc you have three strikes and than its straight to a fusion which he really doesn't recommend being a surgeon due to the complications seen down the road. He asked me if I could deal with the pain. Time will tell after I try the alternatives. All I can do is keep praying.
