Expectations for 3rd Surgery

First L4-L5 discectomy was in Sep 1989. Second L4-L5 (same side) discectomy was in Jun 1998. I've managing the pain for the past 16 years okay but things are going downhill since Sep 2014. MRI in Oct 2014 shows disc protusion in same L4-L5 area although scar tissue could be contributing to the pain. Since Oct, I've had three ESIs and they're not doing much good, if any. Am strongly considering minimally invasive surgery (been avoiding it for as long as possible). Appointment with well-known neurosurgeon is Jan 30th. I'm male, non-smoker and 55 yrs old. Am interested if anyone has had a similar situation.
