Im a full time firefighter, who is on WC due to injury at l4-l5, l5-s1. MRI revealed herniated l5-s1, which 12 weeks of therapy first, with no help, then laminectomy and discectomy at sites which seemed to help at first, started therapy slowly but started hurting badly, neurosurgeon said it was muscular and sent me to pain management doctor, in between waiting 2 weeks for WC approval, i had xray on my own bc i felt something wasnt right and i didnt just want pain medication. Met with pain med doctor and showed xrays, which he really liked, so he went to my surgeon and shows him and they agreed it wasnt muscular, but they believed it to be my joints, so a diagnostic test was performed with little improvement short term then nerve ablation was done at those levels. Been 3 weeks now and am in worse pain now, not burning from nerve not being dead pain. Real pain with pain meds not working. Before ablation, doctor tells me if this doesnt work , he feels like my "horse is to farout the gate" . What does this mean ? I have an appointment on the 14th. Cant rotate, bend backwards. I can bend forward a little ways, but just constant pain, including new deal with my big right toe being stiff and tingles 3/4 of the day. Any help by you doctors, would be great in regards to what is possible next for consistent pain relief treatment for me. I cant live like this.
