Today marks 3 weeks out from my "L4-L5-S1 Interbody fusion with instrumentation of hardware". (being specific as i can to what the doctor said) and I'm feeling a little sore still at the surgery joints. I know of course it will be weak for a while considering i had 6 screws and rods placed on each side with graphs and all that, but I'm worried i may have messed something up because the doc had be up and moving without a brace and i was free of pain 10 days out of surgery with the limitations of no bending lifting or twisting. (or lifting anything over 5 pounds) so I've done that and been extremely cautious, just barely leaving my house today for the first time as i am now cleared to ride in cars to an extent just not drive.
Basically, my question is, how sturdy is the hardware? I'm 19 almost 20 years old and the doc said i was healing very fast considering the hospital stay is typically 5-6 days and i was out on day 3 going home. PT came and checked me out in my home and said he wasn't coming back cause i was moving very well and the nurse came the next to check the incision, said it was perfect, and never returned. lately I've been pretty sore so how sturdy is the hardware they put in and how easy is it to mess up or cause damage too. I've been very cautious and my parents haven't let me lift a finger around the house, I've literally laid in bed consistently so is this soreness and weakness when i walk for extended periods common or should i be concerned??
Thank you for any input, I'm seeing my doctor in 3 more weeks at the 6 week mark for a follow up and more X-rays to see how it all healed, but should i be concerned still having a little bit of pain and weakness when standing. its almost the same weakness/tingling i had before the surgery? could it just be weakness of the muscles from being inactive for 3 weeks?? Please give me your opinions cause I'm psyching myself out...
