There is a recent song that I keep in my mind.
"Counting Stars" by One Republic.
Old, but I'm not that old
Young, but I'm not that bold
Gets me thinking a lot. Age is really just a number. I dont care if you are 15 or 95, its whats inside of you, how you think how you behave that makes a difference.
Sure, as we get older in years, the body starts to wear down a bit. Just like a car. My 2000 Honda Accord was a cream puff, but now after 120,000 miles it slows down a bit, but
it still goes on.
One thing about aging, its the years of experiences and what we have learned over that time that can make a difference. You can take a 20 year old who is in the prime of their lives, but
will they know all about life? Marriage, Bringing up children, Death, etc
I guess a number of years ago, I gave up on what being old is. I really dont care about my age. I am 64, but for the most part, I am still young, young at heart.
I think age is something we sometimes dwell on too much. For spinal patients, its I am too young, the doctors dont want to do surgery, or the pharmacy thinks I am a drug seeker
For us older patients, its They forgot about me, they dont think its wise to do the surgery, you have lived a good life, dont complaint
We are all people, regardless of age For me, sometimes I post as if I was a teenager, then at times I post thinking about my age, etc
Mortality? Sure as we get older we do think about it more. When we were young, we were invincible. Years do change that
But to me, the most important thing is to keep our minds young. Even if our bodies start to wear down and need more tune ups, if we keep our mind active we are still in the midst of everything.
I am 64, and I love it!
