I am new to this forum and need help to assess whether i need to consult or just wait till i get better.
i got a herniated disc at the beginning of december. The pain was excrutiating and although it got more bearable with time i still don't spend a single night without waking up several times because of the pain. What really concerns me is that i have had an mri 5 days ago and was advised to get an injection of corticosteroids in the spine using a dye agent for the x ray. Since then i experience several type of pains that completely freak me out. Not so much by the intensity, i am scared that i am having harachnoiditis.
i experienced immense pressure in the back of my head and neck within 20min after the injection. Then i started to have electric shocks. I can get 10 in 10min or nothing for 2 hours, they make me jerk off pretty bad. They don't seem to be correlated to a certain movement or position. i also experience cold waves almost all the time. Many other types of weird feelings as well (nausea) but i must say...what really scares me are the shocks. Is it normal ? Will it go away? Should i be worried from a certain nb of shocks a day or one is enough to show something is wrong. The worst part is the psychological one : my physio, nurse at work and boss all have the same answers :it is nothing, you should resume your daily activities as soon as possible, might just be psychological because you are so tired from the lack of sleep that you are more sensitive to sensations etc....
should i consult a neurologist or someone who treats pain and after how many days should i feel concerned ?
