I'm new here and this is my first post so as a brief introduction; my name is Cat, live in the UK, 30 years old and 8 months post discectomy. My surgery was a success and I was virtually pain free for a couple of months, however during the last 3-4 months I have been experiencing worsening symptoms indicative of a possible re-herniation or similar. I have yet to undergo another MRI but am beginning to consider it now as the pain is getting worse despite conservative treatment.
In the meantime I have been prescribed Pregabalin alongside my regular pain meds (mainly Naproxen plus Tramadol when required) to help alleviate neuropathic pain. I am only on a low dose of 100mg daily, and whereas I do feel as though it is somewhat helpful, I seem to be gaining weight despite eating very healthily and exercising regularly. This is getting to be frustrating as my diet is currently aimed towards losing a few pounds for an upcoming holiday, not gaining them. I don't have tons of weight to lose and do feel as though I am a bit leaner, but my belly feels full, bloated and uncomfortable, not to mention that every time I step on the scales my weight has increased?! I know you have to take the rough with the smooth when it comes to medications, but as mentioned I eat very healthily and enjoy an active lifestyle including lots of hillwalking, therefore am a little miffed & puzzled at present.
I would be really grateful if anybody who is experiencing the same problem with Pregabalin could offer any advice, reassurance, or just anything really.
Many thanks for reading, and apologies for the essay!
