I went back to the hospital for my post-op appointment (3 months on from 2 level cervical ADR).
I saw the surgeons registrar, when I walked into the room she was staring at the wound and frowning. She then said how pleased she was with the way it was looking. I was so relieved as it really hasn't healed in the same was as my back wounds did. I tend to forget that the skin is totally different on the neck and so it isn't going to look the same.
I then explained that I have been waking up at night unable to feel my pinky and ring finger on my right hand. This is a new sympton. She has referred me to have electro/nerve tests (I'm sure there is a posh name for them). She said that either the 'disease' has gone into the disc below or it could be the ulnar(?) is trapped. We did review the mri done prior to my op and she said that other than 5-6 and 6-7, all the other discs looked perfectly healthy - so let's hope they still are.
I would welcome anyones comments about their experiences of the tests or ulnar nerve problems.
I go back to see the NS in 3 months, so would hope that the tests have been completed by then ........ but who knows with the NHS. First job of the day (at work!) is to ring the hospital to see what sort of waiting times are involved.
Anyway, that's it for now. I'm just about managing 4 hours a day for my first week back at work. It's great to see everyone again and get back into the office banter.
I go off on Monday (7th) for 2 weeks of residential physio and am very much looking forward to that.
Hope you are all having a good week - oh and by the way, she did say that my kick boxing and rugy days are over, they have yet to start so I think I can live with that. Oooooo and best of all I can travel again - look out India here I come
Bye for now folks
