Hello, This is my first time on here so I am hoping I am doing this right. I am 21 and have had back pain since about 16 years old. My senior year in High School I was not allowed to play basketball due to whatever was wrong with my back. Since then, I moved out of town for college, now back in my home town since I could not work anymore because my back. I have been to a Rheumatologist and other normal doctors and physical therapy. I am on Soma and Norco, each pill the same time 3 times a day which I hate taking but it helps manage the pain. I found this doctor in San Francisco, He seems to be helping. He says I have Hypermobility, which most people have but I have it in my spine where the joints are pretty much rubbing together causing the horrible pain. In my paper work he says I have Degeneration of lumbar intervertebral disc, Degeneration of lumbar intervertebral disc, Degeneration of lumbar intervertebral disc, and Chronic Pain syndrome. This last friday I got Cortisone injections on my lower spine. Saturday (the next day) I could not move as the pain was so bad, Could not walk, get up, get down, do anything without the help of my fiance. Now it is monday and I am still hurting bad. Is this normal? He told me that if these shots work I will get 2 surgeries, but if they do not work then it might be a dead end. I am only 21 and do not want to be on pills and in pain the rest of my life! So i am terrified of these shots not working. So does anybody know how long it takes for the pain of the injections to stop working? Is it different for everyone? Any Info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you So much!
