I had a cervical Foraminotomy on December 19, 2014 on c6-c7 to widen the disc space. i was feeling better 10 days after surgery ( I mean sore but tolerable), stopped all pain klllers after 6 days but now i am going on 4 weeks today and am in alot of pain. i have alot of swelling around the incision area and just started on muscle relaxer (soma), My question is after i am up and about for 2 hours or so I need to lay back down cause the pain around my neck is to much weight to carry. How long does this take to heal. I am starting to get very depressed as I think i will be stuck like this for the rest of my life. Any info would be greatly appreciated. thank you

  • I am now 8 weeks post op with c5-6 minimally invasive posterior foraminotomy and laminotomy. I still have a decent amount of pain. Would say it's better than immediately after surgery but definitely not better than before. I was hoping for a full recovery by now but not looking good. I have also been struggling with depression and serious concern that this is as good as it's going to get. After reading multiple comments on here I am terrified that it may never get better. Not sure I can live like this. I hope we can keep in touch as nobody has responded to any of my questions on here and surgeon keeps pushing out my "you'll feel better" from 6 weeks to 8 to 12. Think he is just buying time. Only thing that helped was a steroid pack and even that was very temporary.
