Pinched nerve causing me severe pain

Last week I was sitting at the computer and straining my neck to see the computer. My neck started hurting a lot. I thought it would go away because sometimes I get neck and back pain from poor posture and it usually goes away. However, it keeps getting worse and I can't even move my head without having pain. First it was the right side of my neck, then my right arm and shoulder. Then the pain moved to the middle of my neck and upper back, and it felt like a heavy pressure and I am holding rocks on my back. This morning I woke up and my left shoulder and arm are hurting. I keep using heating pads and taking ibuprofen which gives me some relief, but not much.
What else can I do? Should I go to a doctor or will it go away on its own?
