Hi, first of all thanks for being part of the group.

My name is Patricio, I'm 41. 1 ½ year ago I had a surgery to fuse L5-S1 using The tecnhique TLIF in Miami, Florida.

Before The surgery, I was in pain For 2 years, The doctors in My country didn't find The cause of My pain.

After The surgery everything was going fine but suddenly I started to feel pain in My "wait". I went to Miami (I'm not live in USA) and The doctor told me The pain is caused because The screw (for fuse The spine) has moved. Nobody know why.

The pain is severe. i can't Take seat more than 20 minutes without a painkiller. Stay stand up is more confortable but The pain still "burning" My waist.

In fea words, in June they are going to remove The screws. They can't do before 2 years after The first surgery. 2 years is The minimun time requiered for a Good bone fusion. I will continue taking 4 to 5 Tramadol (50 mg) daily And 15 mg of meloxicam. Tramadol is The unique painkiller who works in My case.

Does any body knows everything to reduce The risks oN My liver and kidneys because The long term of Med consumption?

I Should wait 5 months until The surgery, does any body knows if keep 5 to 6 pills ARE gonna be very risky?

So Sorry for My english.

Thanks a lot

  • Hi pmmoscoso. In general I think a person has to decide for themselves and choose what they believe is the lesser of two evils. I take tramadol and other drugs because I function so much better with them, even though it isn't ideal for my body.

However you should never take more than 8 tramadol in a day. You may want to talk to your doctor about trying a different prescription that will be more effective, because it sounds like you get close to 8 on some days. In my opinion it would be nice to avoid so much tramadol if there is an alternate medication that will help you.
