Possible popped internal stitch

I had a posterior fusion and foraminotomy at the C4-C5 level on Dec. 30th
This morning I coughed and an intense, sharp, scream-inducing pain occurred. My Dr said I may have popped an internal stitch.
My pain is extremely sharp in certain positions, so I'm laying down very still.
My question....has anyone experienced anything like this? If so, what did it feel like. I'm literally screaming in pain when I movdmy neck to the left. Please help.

  • I've been searching this forum for this issue because my stitches popped also. I have a big dItch in the back of my neck and bumps where the bones are. It's really freaky. My doctor said it's not uncommon and that most people get it fixed. I have a lot of muscle pain and he said it won't get better. I've already had two surgeries -- first through the front then through the back when all the levels didn't fuse (had 5 levels done). All the nerve pain is gone so that's good.

My pain isn't excruciating at all and not nearly like the pain after the surgery. It's muscle pain in my shoulders and the bottom of my neck. Sorry I'm not much help. I'm just so relieved to see this does happen. Maybe someone with better information action will reply.
