I have never joined a forum before. So here goes!

I am a 59 year old woman diagnosed with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis and scoliosis and osteoarthritis. am scheduled to have surgery in two stages, the first is on February 10th and the 2nd is on the 13th. I have suffered with pain for a number of years and nothing helped. My problems started in 1992, the disc in the base of my spine herniated. Since then I have had my back give "out" many times. Over the past 10 months my back has got significantly worse, I cannot walk far I have to use a stick or my husband pushes me in a wheelchair for shopping, I have burning, numbness in arms, legs, hard time trying to get up, get dressed and go up and down stairs.

1. Over the past couple of months I have been suffering with spasticity in my legs, particularly in my left. I am also having electric shocks down my spine at night which is extremely painful. My doctor sent me for an MRI on Saturday evening January 31st because he believes that I have a spinal cord injury. I am now waiting for the surgeon to let me know what is going on, especially since the surgery is next week.

Has anyone experienced a spinal cord injury or experienced these symptoms? If so, what was the outcome. I. Am not paralyzed, and I would also like to know what the recovery time from this surgery.

Thank you for your assistance.
