5 Week Post-Op

My post-op was full of great news!

My neck looks awesome! The kyposis is so much improved. It doesn't look like a "normal" neck but isn't curving forward anymore- what more can I ask for? I can see the difference when I look at my profile in the mirror- my posture has improved so much.

It amazing to me just how much of each vertabrae he actually removed. I wrote in my tag line that he took 1/3 but I'm way off. It's actually well over half of each. He explained to me that by doing that instead of the verbrectomies he was able to more fully correct the unnatural forward curve and give me that wonderful posture. Whatever works! My neurological symptoms are improving as well and, while I'm still having a lot of problems, he's confident that I'm going to regain quite a bit of function. My T2 and T3 don't look so good but he assured me that he didn't see any nerve or spinal cord impingement. They are taking the brunt of this injury and will likely be next on the list.

The best news? I'm already fusing!!! He was floored! There is so much lovely milky white in there that he couldn't believe it. I told him that I could grow some bone and now I guess he believes me LOL.

I get to start PT in 6 weeks and go back to see him in 8. I was in dire need of some good news and man, did this do it for me.
