three days after discectomy and can't stand up 40 yo male

I just had a discomty on l4/5 I walked in to the hospital been having sciatica problem with right leg for about 5 months. Been some bad days and some ok days I had the surgery and woke up from it in extreme pain in the post opt room and since I can't sit up in bed as nd if I try to stand up I am in bad pain 10 I was able to walk with help if walker only about 15 ft till it was too much then they had to give a dilordin to help ease this pain the doc are trying to say that nothing I'd wrong that the swelling just has to go down but then set me for a mri last night has this happened to other people I walked in to hospital with a pain of 3 now I can't even stand up without a pain of 10

  • Mine was also really bad right after surgery. Could barely get up. I hope your MRI doesn't show anything bad. Good luck!
  • It'll be a while before sitting is comfortable. I'm 2 years out from my L4/L5 discectomy and can only sit for about 15 minutes. Standing gets easier but take it slow. You have a ton of inflammation now. Ice, lay flat and read all those books you've always wanted to get to. Best.
