I had an ACDF last April and was told 18 months for nerve regeneration. Starting December 31st, I took Cosamin DS three times a day to help alleviate some stiffness, as I awaited the remainder of the regeneration. Last night, I accidentally stumbled across some scholarly articles, reporting that chondroitin sulfate inhibits nerve regeneration. The way it was written, I got the impression it stopped regeneration altogether. I am terrified that I have destroyed my chances of a full recovery, especially since my doctor thinks I suffered a minor nerve injury in December or January in physical therapy. I'm only halfway through my nerve regeneration time! Has anyone else taken glucosamine chondroitin sulfate during their nerve regeneration and come out okay? I really need to ease my worried mind here.
