Dural Tear during Decompression, any one else had this?

Hi folks.
Please excuse the long winded post in advance.

Had my surgery Dec 11th 2014. Was in bad shape after surgery and didn't do much for these two months. I'm able to walk better finally still using a cane. I started walking around our neighborhood etc. Doing this did create new pain in my right leg that wasn't there before. I'm still walking though and plan to keep trying to improve with exercise. Is this a good or bad idea?

Originally when I had the surgery, it was to be a 90 min procedure but there was a dural tear, it went 9 hours.

After I got out of surgery, I had some side effects form this Dural tear or so I am to understand.

1, Half of my penis was numb and one testicle. All the nerves on the left side coming form the sacrum area were numb or in pain.
2 My left leg was numb and feeling like I had a sunburn of sorts.
3. I had really bad leg aches and pain in my left leg

I never once used a Narcotic or opiates of any kind. I knew that would makes things worse. I have used some Gabapentin and that helps a but. Mainly just some Naprocin.

So Im able to say the numbness in the penis has gotten better but the bowel nerves are still a problem.

My leg is a problem, when I tighten any of the muscles they quiver and the left leg is weaker then the right.

Any idea how long this takes to heal?

Mojave i am presently going through the same issues but on my right side. I had the same surgery in November 2014, if you have access try to get your surgical notes to see how much damage was done to the dural sac. * It might be difficult to get the notes because even though they are part of your medical records some hospitals are reluctant to provide them. After reviewing my notes i found that i had 45% damage to the right side after the dural tear, and as of today 9/2/2015 i have not healed. After talking to another back specialist i was informed that the damage was going to be permanent. I hope this isn't the case for you.
