21 year old with lower back herniated disc

Hi, I'm looking for advice on my herniated disc that I've had for 4 years. I really want to avoid surgery but it's probably coming down to the only solution. Some days it's better than others but recently it's about returned to the pain of when I intial got hurt. I'm thinking of going to the acupuncture but I'm not sure if that's a good idea. Please give me recommendations, thanks!

  • Before I hurt my back with a herniated disk for years my PCP ordered therapy which worked when I was in my 20's. I had occasional flair-ups which turned into epidural injectios which lasted longer combined with therapy again. This prolonged surgery for years. I used a heating pad at my desk at work and sitting at home. I forced my self to walk briskly several times a week. Aqua therapy is also wonderful to strengthen your core muscles area around the injury. Talk to your doctor about this and a anti-inflammatory regimen can be very helpful. Good luck :)
