recovery from cervical neck fusion, bone taken from hip vs cadaver bone and pain

I had ACDF surgery about a year ago at C5-6 and C6-7, I requested cadaver bone because of hearing about the worse pain for a lifetime from the bone taken from your hip. Is this true?
My C6-7 fusion has not taken completely and I will probably need surgery again. Any thoughts on using your own hip bone as opposed to cadaver bone?

  • THey didnt take bone from my hip because of the increased risks so instead they took bone from my rib. It hurt at first but now ( 1 yr later) I have no pain and the only way I know that it happened is because of my scar. May be worth asking your surgeon.
